Robb Stark and Edmure Tully – Season 3

In this extended scene from season three, we see what happened before Robb privately dressed down his uncle Edmure for the impulsive actions he took at Stone Mill. With all of his lords present (including the recalcitrant Lord Karstark), Robb listens to Edmure tell of the glory his forces won by driving off Gregor Clegane at Stone Mill. Robb praises Edmure in front of his lords, and promises Karstark justice for his dead sons. He then asks for the lords to leave him, and the scene continues as it appeared in the episode—with Robb harshly chastising Edmure for disobeying his orders by driving Clegane away instead of drawing him in where they could finish him. Robb also points out that in taking the strategically unimportant Stone Mill, Edmure also managed to lose 208 men—soldiers Robb can’t afford to lose.

The extended cut provides new context to Robb and Edmure’s interaction, showing that Robb isn’t so tactless as to embarrass Edmure before the other lords. It’s also an interesting parallel/contrast to the interactions in public and private between Jon and Sansa in season seven.
