Olenna and Mace Tyrell – Season 6

We don’t get to see a ton of interaction in the aired episodes of Game of Thrones between Olenna “Queen of Thorns” Tyrell and her son, Mace Tyrell—although she’s made it clear in the past that she thinks he’s something of an oaf. In this deleted scene, we get to see some mother-son “bonding” as Olenna rips into Mace for being so naive about Cersei’s intentions in sending him to Braavos. She also pokes fun about the carousing he did there, while his children were being rounded up for arrest back in King’s Landing. “Look me in the eye and tell me there was no singing,” she demands. Mace looks down at his lap, abashed.

The pair go on to discuss what will happen next and how they might secure the release of Loras and Margaery. It’s not a particularly deep scene, but it’s nice to see these two on-screen together one last time before Cersei pulls her coup de grâce at the Sept of Baelor in the season six finale.
